Fringe at 40

The Story so Far

Join us for the live documentary screening of Fringe at 40: The Story So Far.

The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival was born of a revolution. It’s a grassroots DIY movement that continues to cultivate ongoing collisions between community and art. We exist because theatre exists and what exists here doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world.

So, how did the oldest, largest Fringe Festival in North America get its start? From the wild and weird to the downright wacky, what makes Edmonton Fringe so special?

The magic of Fringe lives with the people who built this Festival from the ground up, and who continue to nurture it 40 years later. We sit down the artists, audiences, staff, and volunteers who’ve helped create one of North America’s most influential arts movements to reflect on 40 years of fringing and dream about what the next 40 might bring.

Featuring: Helen Belay, Patricia Darbasie, Megan Dart, Betty Grudnizki, Mike Kennard, Janet Kerr, k.d. lang, Judy Lawrence, Colin MacLean, Shivani Naidu Barrett, Liz Nicholls, Brian Paisley, James Song, Tessa Stamp, Adam Turnbull, John Turner, and Murray Utas
