CHUMP: a new play by Sue Goberdhan
It's about growing, grieving, and being Guyanese.

The Kumar Family suffers a tremendous loss when they suddenly lose their family’s matriarch. While the family gathers at Grandma Baby’s “Nine Day,” they learn a hard but necessary lesson about the root of their grief, the fortitude of their joy, and the tension that arises from everyone’s favourite card game: T’ruup Chaal.
CHUMP is being workshopped from May 29 to June 11, 2023 at the Studio Theatre as part of Sue Goberdhan’s time with the CONFLUENCE Fellowship at Catalyst Theatre.
A public presentation of this new work in process will be on June 11 at 7:30 PM.
This piece is made possible with contributions from Catalyst Theatre, Fringe Theatre, Alpacalypse Productions, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

Post Show Dinner on June 11th
As part of this celebration, we would like to invite you to the CHUMP Community Dinner, immediately after the show in the Westbury Lobby! This event comes at no additional cost, and is being catered by the illustrious (and DELICIOUS) Cafe Caribbean!
Caribbean joy means a lot of things; it means steadfast optimism, it means community care, but most importantly it means building a bigger table so we can all share in food that warms up the spirit. We can’t wait to see you there!
