Plain Language Description
Hearts Left Open is about two women who meet outside their kids’ hospital rooms. One is a mother. One is an aunt. Both children have cancer. For a year, they wait together in the same hallway—worrying, hoping, and trying to survive. The nurses, doctors, and partners try to help, but no one has the answers. This is a story about what happens when life stays hard and people still show up. It’s about fear, love, anger—and the friendship that can grow from grief.
