First Love

First Love is a poetic reflection on a misanthropic outcast's relationship with love — particularly with a woman named Lulu, who he encountered on the canal-side bench that was once his nocturnal home. This darkly comic short story by Samuel Beckett explores love, death and one man's inability to comprehend humanity.
