Plain Language Description
Kiki Moritsugu has a solo show where she talks about her strong connection with her mum, Jo Hutchings, who was a performer. In the show, Kiki sings, dances, and tells stories. She explains how growing up with a mum who was so bold and different helped her figure out who she is. Kiki is mixed race (part Japanese-Canadian and part English-Canadian), and she shares behind-the-scenes moments from her own job. She talks about how hard it was to find her own voice when other people had ideas about who she should be. The songs in the show are like a soundtrack to Kiki's life, helping us understand how she learned about herself. Now that Kiki has two kids who are also performers, the show ends with her feeling sure of herself and ready to make the future she wants for them.
