ABOUT (be)Longing
(be)Longing is a play about trying
to find and define a feeling of “returning home” when the subject is
caught in the middle of 2 worlds. It explores an experience of
perpetually feeling “in-between,” by starting over again at the
“Once-upon-a-time’s” of multiple origins. Weaving emotional connections
to folktales, picture books, and television, with cultural/ literary
analysis of the same, an artist tries to find where they might establish
roots by tracing themselves back to the beginning(s). With a pair of
central questions; What stories can I claim? Who will even claim me?
