Orange you glad to be in Miami?
Bennet hitchhikes 300 miles from Aspen to Fort Collins, Colorado for a Rolling Stones concert. When he sees the stadium full of people he knows - everyone is there for him. They just don’t know it yet. After the concert when he can’t get a ride back home to Aspen - it’s an omen. Fort Collins is where it’s meant to happen. Days later, after faking his death to be resurrected as the “New Messiah” he’s arrested. Four psych wards and copious antipsychotics later, he’s back in Miami with Mom and Dad. The world’s not ready for him yet.
Bennet Caffee began doing solo performance 13 years ago under David Ford’s direction at the Marsh Theater in San Francisco. After years of refusing treatment for bipolar disorder he had finally committed to staying on medication, but he missed his exhilarating highs. Performing was a way of celebrating the “fun part” of bipolar disorder he had left behind. As he delved deeper, he included darker side of his condition, eventually leading to his first full-length show, “My First Miracle -adventures in bipolar disorder” which he performed to critical acclaim at fringe festivals across the US and Canada. Currently he has performed his latest show “Orange you glad to be in Miami?” at the Nanaimo, Oregon, San Francisco, Rogue, San Diego, Orlando and Tampa fringe festivals. Caffee’s work has been praised for its funny and authentic portrayal of the bipolar experience. "If you are looking for a show that while it has funny moments, also makes you think, this one is for you. I applaud Bennet for being willing to share so openly about his own struggles and that he can do so in an entertaining story.” (Kings River Life Magazine)
