Fly Boy: There and Back Again

FlyBoy: From There and Back Again tells the remarkable true of John Edward Tayler. Set in the late 1930s through the turmoil of World War II, the show engages audiences with a deeply personal narrative of ambition, adversity, and transformation. From young pilot to WWII veteran, the seven-year journey of this Edmonton dreamer inspires us with courage, tenacity, and the truth of love at first sight.
Based on recently discovered audio tapes and handwritten pages — fragments of memory, FlyBoy brings a rarely told Canadian perspective to life in a one person show. John Tayler's story will inspire and touch everyone who has ever chased a dream and overcome challenges.
FlyBoy begins with John’s optimistic pursuit of becoming a commercial pilot, only to have his dream interrupted by the outbreak of WW II. As the story unfolds John faces the harsh realities of conflict, endures imprisonment, and returns home changed with a surprising new dream for his future.
This show honours the courage, sacrifice, and endurance of a generation of Canadians whose numbers are dwindling. Celebrate the Canadian spirit with FlyBoy: the willingness to dream, to persevere, and to discover strength through adversity. Reflect on the lessons of history and their relevance to current global events.
FlyBoy: From There and Back Again is more than history — it is an invitation to to remember, to honour, and to be inspired.
