London, the final years of the nineteenth century. Barnaby Gibbs, a man made entirely of shortcomings, has become the stalwart companion of the brilliant detective Antoine Feval, sharing in his adventures, and helping him solve the most difficult of cases.
But in all their investigations together, there is one mystery that has never been solved; why would a brilliant man like Feval choose to work with a bumbling fool like Gibbs?

In Not Quite Sherlock, veteran fringe performer Chris Gibbs (The Power of Ignorance; Gibberish; Hoopal; Like Father, Like Son? Sorry) uses every bit of his 35 years of comedy experience to tell the heart-warming and hilarious story of a man who thinks he must be the luckiest person on earth, but who might just possess depths so hidden, only a brilliant detective could find them.

Under its original title, 'Antoine Feval', the show was a hit at the 2005 Edmonton Fringe, where it was held over.

Plain Language Description

Not Quite Sherlock is a one man comedy play set in London in the 1890s. Chris Gibbs, a very funny comedian, plays every character, including the narrator; Barnaby Gibbs. Barnaby is not good at anything, but somehow he has become the assistant to a brilliant detective. Barnaby thinks he is telling the story of how this happened, but without realising it, he is telling another story, one of redemption and hope, and of the good things that can happen when someone believes in a better world.
