The Sad Saga of the Edmonton Interurban Railway
On 137 avenue, across from what is now a Superstore, there used to be a car barn built to house the trains that would ride along what was once the most northern railway in North America. This is the story of the turbulent and exciting rise of the Edmonton Interurban Railway, and its swift and unfortunate demise.
The Edmonton Interurban Railway was route that lasted from September 1913 to April 1914, taking Albertan's from Edmonton to St Albert and back. This new play shows how it came to be by the work of Raymond Brutinel, and how it could have changed even our lives today had it not burnt suddenly due to a gas explosion.
Proceeds from this show will be donated to a children's charity.

The Sad Saga of the Edmonton Interurban Railway is about the railway that was built from St Albert to Edmonton and ran for eight months from September 1913-April 1914 before the car barn burnt down. It describes the issues Raymond Brutinel had getting the railway approved by council and how it affected one woman's life who lived in St Albert.
