Based on Alison Bechdel’s acclaimed 2006 graphic memoir, Fun Home follows Alison as she looks back on her childhood and searches for a way to understand her brilliant, complicated and elusive father.
Moving between Alison’s childhood, her university years and her adult life, the musical uncovers a family shaped by affection, artistry and long-held secrets. As Alison begins to recognize the unexpected parallels between her life and her father’s, memory becomes a means of seeing her parents, and herself, with greater clarity.
Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Fun Home is a compassionate and deeply moving theatrical memoir, brought to life through humour, remarkable honesty and an unforgettable contemporary score.
