The Drowning Girls
Supported by the Westbury Family Fringe Theatre Award
A Fringe Festival original returns to the stage! First premiered at the 1999 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival, The Drowning Girls has gone on to captivate audiences with its haunting theatricality and sharp social commentary.
Bessie, Alice, and Margaret have two things in common: they were married to George Joseph Smith, and they are dead. Rising from the bathtubs where they were drowned, the three breathless brides gather evidence against their womanizing, murderous husband by reliving the shocking events leading to their deaths.
The Drowning Girls is a breathtaking fantasia and social critique, rich with lyrical language and haunting images as it reflects on the misconceptions of love, marriage, and the not-so-happily-ever-after.
