Bimbos Save the World is an improvised late night musical playback show where changemakers get into bed with Quetzala Carson each night to talk love, sex, impact, intimacy, and changing the world. Before the show starts, audience members can write down a Bimbo Confession or a Bimbo Breakthrough that will be incorporated into the closing number. A Bimbo Confession is a messy, toxic, or chaotic moment from their life. A Bimbo Breakthrough is a moment when they learned, healed, grew, or chose something better. Each performance features a different guest making a difference in Alberta. They may be an artist, organizer, advocate, helper, leader, or someone doing care work in their community. Through a live conversation, Quetzala and the guest explore the tender, funny, messy, and human parts of trying to make change while also wanting to love and be loved. Their experiences, reflections, and big feelings are transformed in real time into improvised scenes and songs by the Intersectional Improv Ensemble and Band led by Tea Fannie. The show blends interview, comedy, musical improv, and playback theatre. It moves back and forth between conversation, scenes, songs, and playful reflections. Near the end, Quetzala and Tea read selected Bimbo Confessions and Bimbo Breakthroughs from the audience. The band and ensemble use them to create the final song of the night. Every night is different because every guest brings a different life, love story, and way of impacting the world. Bimbos Save the World celebrates the truth that you do not have to be perfect to be impactful. Object of Divinity is an abstract puppet play by Calla Wright (The Alberta Hospital for the Insane) about the life of the Public Universal Friend, a genderless prophet from the 1770s. With an omnipresent industrial score composed and performed live by producer SILKRØAD, it is a visual, poetic piece about gender, divinity, and object-hood. The play uses a mix of object puppet theatre, poetry, and burlesque to tell a story about one of the earliest recorded nonbinary people. Plain Language Description Object of Divinity is a play about The Public Universal Friend, who was a genderless prophet from the 1770s. It's a story about The Friend losing connection with their followers and family after their lover dies very suddenly. They have a stepdaughter they struggle to connect with, and followers who want to take ownership of their land. The Friend is played by a person, but all other characters in the play are played by large puppet versions of objects - someone is a fork, someone is a pen, someone is a hairbrush, etc. The play is part poetry, part puppet show with these objects, and part dance. Bimbos Save the World is an improvised late night musical playback show where changemakers get into bed with Quetzala Carson each night to talk love, sex, impact, intimacy, and changing the world. Before the show starts, audience members can write down a Bimbo Confession or a Bimbo Breakthrough that will be incorporated into the closing number. A Bimbo Confession is a messy, toxic, or chaotic moment from their life. A Bimbo Breakthrough is a moment when they learned, healed, grew, or chose something better. Each performance features a different guest making a difference in Alberta. They may be an artist, organizer, advocate, helper, leader, or someone doing care work in their community. Through a live conversation, Quetzala and the guest explore the tender, funny, messy, and human parts of trying to make change while also wanting to love and be loved. Their experiences, reflections, and big feelings are transformed in real time into improvised scenes and songs by the Intersectional Improv Ensemble and Band led by Tea Fannie. The show blends interview, comedy, musical improv, and playback theatre. It moves back and forth between conversation, scenes, songs, and playful reflections. Near the end, Quetzala and Tea read selected Bimbo Confessions and Bimbo Breakthroughs from the audience. The band and ensemble use them to create the final song of the night. Every night is different because every guest brings a different life, love story, and way of impacting the world. Bimbos Save the World celebrates the truth that you do not have to be perfect to be impactful. Object of Divinity is an abstract puppet play by Calla Wright (The Alberta Hospital for the Insane) about the life of the Public Universal Friend, a genderless prophet from the 1770s. With an omnipresent industrial score composed and performed live by producer SILKRØAD, it is a visual, poetic piece about gender, divinity, and object-hood. The play uses a mix of object puppet theatre, poetry, and burlesque to tell a story about one of the earliest recorded nonbinary people. Plain Language Description Object of Divinity is a play about The Public Universal Friend, who was a genderless prophet from the 1770s. It's a story about The Friend losing connection with their followers and family after their lover dies very suddenly. They have a stepdaughter they struggle to connect with, and followers who want to take ownership of their land. The Friend is played by a person, but all other characters in the play are played by large puppet versions of objects - someone is a fork, someone is a pen, someone is a hairbrush, etc. The play is part poetry, part puppet show with these objects, and part dance. There will be a musician playing electronic music throughout the show. A tiny king tries to ban every shadow in his kingdom after losing his best friend. It doesn't go well. SHORT KING is a 45-minute play (emphasis on "play") about grief, and the shadows we learn to keep — told through shadow puppetry, humanette puppets, and original songs. After Short King's best friend dies, he comes up with a plan: lights. A lot of lights. Enough lights to ban every shadow in his kingdom. The plan goes about as well as you'd expect. As darkness keeps creeping in, Short King sets off on a journey to confront what he's been running from — and finds something he never expected on the other side. The show is built for kids ages 5 and up and the grown-ups who came with them. It's funny, it's tender, and it doesn't look away from the hard part. It's grounded in contemporary research on how children grieve — including the idea of continuing bonds, which holds that we don't get over the people (and dogs) we lose; we carry them with us, and they shape who we become.
