Who is Fringe

Fringe Theatre

Fringe Theatre provides services to artists, producers, organizers, and creators (collectively referred to as “Organizers”) to promote and sell tickets, reservations, subscriptions, merchandise, and donations to shows, conferences, and activities (each, an “Event”) to purchasers and attendees (each, a “Patron,” and collectively referred to as “Patrons,” “you,” and “your”). Fringe Theatre’s services give Patrons access to the Events and facilitate the procurement of merchandise and processing of donations.

Fringe Theatre is a registered non-profit and charity located at 10330 84 Ave Edmonton, AB, Canada T6E 2G9 (referred to in this Privacy Policy as “Fringe,” “we,” “us,” and “our”).

Services

Fringe’s website and domain, tickets.fringetheatre.ca, (our “Site”) and the services available on the Site, in-person at our physical box office locations, and in person at third-party Events using our services, are collectively referred to as the “Services.” 

Collection of Personal Data

When you use our Services online or in person, we may collect data that can be associated with you and/or used to identify you (“Personal Data”). Depending on your engagement with the Services, the Personal Data we collect varies. 

All Patrons

If you make a purchase, we may collect financial information from you, such as credit card number, to facilitate transactions. The storage and processing of this financial information is payment card industry (PCI) compliant. We do not collect financial information from you should you pay with cash.

Patrons Online

Personal Data collected online typically includes, but is not limited to, name and email. All other information provided by you, including physical address, is voluntary.  

Patrons In Person

Patrons using the Services in person will receive a request for their name and postal code. This identifies you within our Services to prevent duplicate Patron accounts or transactions within the wrong Patron account. Any other information provided by the you in person is voluntary. 

Patrons using our Services in person may refuse to provide Personal Data but should be aware that this refusal may result in lack of fulfillment of our Services. 

Collection of Non-Personal Data

When using our Services online, we collect some information that is automatically sent to us from the device through which you access the Services. This data is non-identifying and as such is considered “Non-Personal Data.” This Non-Personal data includes, but is not limited to, your IP address and which browser you’re accessing the Services on.  

The Services also use browser cookies that can identify your browser each time you visit our Site. These cookies provide us information, such as which pages you visited and how many Patrons are browsing. This helps Fringe understand Patron interests and improve the experience of visitors to our Site. The cookies can also determine your device, so that your preferences can be saved for future. Fringe works with third parties (Google Analytics) that use these cookies to help us with traffic management, research and analytics. You can manage your cookie preferences within your browser. Check with your browser provider for information and instructions. 

How We Use Your Personal Data

The Personal Data we collect may be used as follows: 

Order Fulfillment

Personal Data provide for fulfilling orders will be used to do so. For example, if you purchase merchandise to be shipped to you, we will use the Personal Data you provide to ship the merchandise to you. We may also share your name with an Organizer to check-in Patron’s at a venue. 

Automatic Communication

We will use your email to deliver electronic ticket emails, order confirmation emails, and event reminder emails to you. These result from your interaction with the Services and always occur regardless of your communication preferences, since they are required to fulfill your order.

Access and Use

Personal Data provided to create access and use our Services, such as your email when creating an account, will be used to further access and use our Services.

Marketing

Fringe may use your Personal Data collected via the Services to contact you via email or physical mail to solicit donations to Fringe. To opt-out of physical mail marketing, contact communications@fringetheatre.ca. For email marketing, contact communications@fringetheatre.ca or unsubscribe using the link provided in the marketing email.

Organizer Communications

You may also receive communications from Organizers where such communications are required to fulfill orders. Specifically, such Organizers may contact you via email or SMS message: (a) directly; (b) indirectly through Fringe’s email address (boxoffice@fringetheatre.ca); or (c) indirectly through an external service provider.

Please note that Fringe does not determine the content of these Organizer-initiated communications. However, Organizers are required to comply with all applicable laws when sending such communications. Organizers also agree that they are not to send further communications beyond what is required to fulfill orders.

Research

The data you provide to Fringe helps us understand and serve our Patrons better. We used data collected from your interactions with the Services to perform research on our Patrons. This research uses your Personal Data (specifically your postal code and ticket purchasing habits) and aggregates the data to create aggregated Non-Personal Data. Research done with this aggregated data is non-identifying and not affiliated with you or your account.

Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data

No Sale

We will not sell your Personal Data to third parties. We may disclose, transfer or share aggregated Non-Personal Data with certain third parties without further notice to you.

Organizers

Organizers may receive your Personal Data when such information is required to fulfill your use of the Services. For example, if you purchase a ticket for an Event outside of the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns, the Organizer may be provided with your name and purchase information to allow you access to the Event. Organizers who receive Personal Data agree that the Personal Data shared with them will be limited in use to fulfill the order. When transferring personal information to a third party, Fringe will ensure (through a contractual guarantee or otherwise) that the third party will put protections in place that comparable to, or better than, our own protections.

Legal Requirements

We will disclose your Personal Data without your knowledge or consent where the law requires or permits us to do so.

Storage of Personal Data

Personal Data is stored by third parties whom with we have transferred the data. Red Sixty One Limited stores data from your interaction on our Services, but this data may be transferred to other third-party services, such as our donation management system. Data is stored in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Accessing, Updating, or Deleting Your Personal Data

You can request access to some of your Personal Data being stored by us by emailing boxoffice@fringetheatre.ca. You can also ask us to correct, update or delete any inaccurate Personal Data that we process. Full account and Personal Data deletion can be requested by emailing boxoffice@fringetheatre.ca, but please note that will prevent you from accessing previous transaction and account information. 

If you are a registered Patron, you can update your Personal Data by logging in to the Services and updating your account details.

How Long We Retain Your Personal Data

We may retain your Personal Data if you are registered to use the Services. You may delete your account by emailing boxoffice@fringetheatre.ca.

Limiting Your Personal Data

Browsing our Services does not require you to submit any Personal Data beyond the Automatic Data that is collected. However, to make purchases online you must provide your name and email. Purchases with monetary value will require address details for credit card verification.
