Bouée

L'UniThéâtre presents a Satellite Théâtre production. Bouée, a show with a penchant for cynical existentialism and a Monctonian perspective, tackles the biggest questions of our time: what is humanity's place in an infinite cosmos? Are we alone, or is there life elsewhere? Who, in the end, has left the light on?  An effervescent, hybrid work, Bouée explores the absurd space between humanity's everyday anxieties and the potential of its interstellar ambitions. Perhaps the link between the infinitely large and the incredibly small is ultimately us.

Petite Ondine

A coproduction of Théâtre la Seizième and Kleine Compagnie At the bottom of the ocean, Petite Ondine, daughter of the King of the Sea, feels like a stranger among her own kind. She dreams of another life, on land. But can a mermaid find her place among humans? Interwoven with songs of Nina Simone, Petite Ondine is a new object theatre production by the Kleine Cie in collaboration with Théâtre La Seizième, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. In cabaret form, the use of video reveals to the audience the work on miniature objects and materials that is created directly on stage, underlining the poetry and the fragility of this world underwater.

Tough Guy

Tough Guy follows a group of friends as they navigate the aftermath of a shooting at Aria, a queer nightclub. They’re all nursing wounds, visible and invisible, and are thrown into further turmoil when their friend Emerson, a rising star in the independent film scene, comes back home to film a documentary about the shooting. How do we go on when the unthinkable happens? What does it mean to point a camera at a catastrophe? How does queerness endure, time and time again? Winner of the 2025 Westbury Family Fringe Theatre Award and the 2025 Alberta Playwriting Competition, Tough Guy is at once an excavation of a tragedy and a celebration of the tenacity of queer joy.
