And The Tony Award Goes To...

A new original, high energy, madcap jukebox musical where the supporting ensemble has to scramble to get their Tony Award Ceremony ready before the curtain rises! Will they find a headliner? Will the impending storm ruin it all? With a brand-new script by Martin Galba, the show will feature music from classics such as Wicked, Moulin Rouge, A Chorus Line and many more… It is Sunday, June 2047. During this year’s theatre season there were no new musicals brought to the Broadway stage which gives the artistic community a chance to celebrate the amazing works already written. On the momentous day of the 100th Tony Award Ceremony, which will be televised live all over the world, a big storm hits New York City and shuts the whole city down. As the performing cast rehearses at Radio City Music Hall the Producer, Max, along with the Director, Harold, and Choreographer, Jeremy, all have to scramble and devise a plan before the cameras start to roll. With some tense relationships, others rediscovering love, and actors vying for center stage… careers are on the line! Will our Broadway Legend Glenn Desmond be able to save the day? Does Katherine, a star in the making, get her big break? Only the talents and passions of our dedicated musical theatre performers will rise to the challenge and live the theatre code of “the show must go on”! Written/Directed and Choreographed by Martin Galba, who is the distinguished recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Originally from Slovakia, Martin’s career in the arts as an actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer and producer has been steadily building since the early 2000s. Music Direction by Brad Heintzman, who graduated with honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto and Grant MacEwan University Music Program.

The Show Must Go On

Enjoy a stellar evening of song with Edmonton Musical Theatre and Davy Damo Productions. A rockin' live band, six outstanding talented singers and music from both the Broadway stage and the pop playlist... the perfect mix of entertainment in this high energy concert styled production. This memorable evening is a perfect way to celebrate Edmonton Musical Theatre's 47 years of being a part of Edmonton's artistic landscape! Founded by Dr. Dasha Goody, Edmonton Musical Theatre (EMT) is a performance-training organization unique to Western Canada. EMT is unique in that it is an independent, non-profit society without affiliation with any educational institution or with any amateur theatre. EMT is dedicated solely to educating its students to the highest degree of professionalism in the area of musical theatre arts. While not all of our students pursue theatre careers, many have entered into the professional fields of stage, television and radio. Regardless of whether or not our students pursue active careers in entertainment, their experience at EMT empowers them with a greater appreciation of the arts, a sense of achievement and personal growth, and a new level of confidence. Many of EMT’s alumni have gone on to pursue professional careers in the Arts and Entertainment field. We are delighted to have returning alumni join us for this event highlighting Bernard Quilala and Davy Damo. Bernard Quilala has been a Top 16 competitor on both Popstars: The One and the 2004 season of Canadian Idol. His participation in the 2008 David Foster Star Search led to the meeting with acapella band and fellow Top 5 finalists, Epsilon, of which he is now a member. In April 2010, Bernard opened a concert for the incomparable Michael Bolton and followed that amazing experience up by singing backup for Johnny Reid at the 2010 Canadian Country Music Awards. Bernard has also been fortunate enough to share the stage with American Idol Winner and recording artist, Ruben Studdard in 2011’s, Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree. Davy Damo is a vocalist/musician and graduate of the Grant MacEwan Music program majoring in Performing and Recording arts. He has had the opportunity to perform with Alfie Zappacosta, Jack Semple, and sang back-up for Johnny Reid live on CBC for the 2010 Canadian Country Music Awards. He also performed with the 2011 Singing Christmas Tree featuring American Idol’s Ruben Studdard. He is also a “Live Music” event producer, launching “ 3D Entertainment” in the fall of 2013.
